HB 1929: (1) To develop among civilised peoples the realisation of their responsibility towards others ; (2) to obtain justice for the coloured nations without distinction of country or race, to suppress slavery and the slave trade and to abolish forced labour amcng native populations ; (3) to co-ordinate the efforts of National Leagues for the Defence of Native Races and to establish permanent ties between them ; (4) to create new Leagues. HB 1936: Développer chez les peuples civilisés le sentiment de leur propre responsabilité vis-à-vis des autres peuples ; défendre les indigènes de couleur, sans distinction d'habitat ni de race; coordonner les efforts des organisations nationales de défense des indigènes, établir des liens permanents entre elles et susciter la création de groupements nouveaux. General facts

HB 1929: Founded in 1913 in the form of an international secretariat of the Leagues for the Protection of Native Races, at the suggestion of Louis Ferrière, and with the support of the English, French, German and Swiss Leagues. Interrupted by the war, it was reorganised in 1920 and 1923 in the form of an International League, with a Committee which regulates the activities of the International Bureau for the Protection of Native Races. The second general meeting of the International League was held at Geneva in 1925. HB 1936: Fondé en 1913, comme secrétariat international des Ligues pour la défense des indigènes, à la suggestion de Louis Ferrière, et avec l'assentiment des ligues anglaise, française, allemande et suisse. Activité interrompue par la guerre. Le Bureau est réorganisé en 1920. Transformé en 1923 en Ligue internationale avec un comité qui dirige les activités du secrétariat. La sixième assemblée générale a eu lieu en 1933. Activities suspended on account of the war. The Bureau was reorganised in 1920, and was converted in 1923 into an International League with a committee which directs the activities of the Secretariat.
