  • LONSEA is based on source material collected by the League of Nations. Thereby it reflects the League’s attempts to compile, arrange, and publicise all international activities around the globe in regular intervals.
  • LONSEA is primarily based upon the content of the Handbook of International Organisations which was edited by the League of Nations in eight volumes from 1921 to 1938. The Handbook series allows us not only to depict the proceedings of major international organisations but also to approach the immense variety of international civil society activities in the field. LONSEA includes each of the organisations and activities mentioned in the Handbook series. In addition to this LONSEA includes the content of the League of Nations’ personnel files from 1919 to 1946.
  • LONSEA’s content reflects the varieties of international organisations by following the topics the League of Nations used to categorise contemporary global life and international politics. According to the structure of the Handbook of International Organisations series, users can gain information on the incorporated organisations, their officers, seats, objects, publications and activities. Details of participating persons and specific place names have been included in accordance with their mention in the League’s sources.
