Définir l'amateur, faire reconnaître mutuellement toutes les suspensions, établir le règlement des records nationaux; imposer les lois internationales aux associations fédérées. To draw up and enforce a definition of amateur, to secure the mutual recognition of suspensions, to frame regulations for national records, to apply international rules to all federated associations. General facts

La Fédération fut fondée sur l'initiative de l'Association anglaise, à l'occasion des jeux olympiques organisés à Londres en 1908; depuis il a été décidé qu'à tous les congrès olympiques, la Fédération organiserait et contrôlerait les concours de natation. HB 1923: La prochaine réunion de la Fédération aura lieu à Paris en juillet 1923. HB 1929: The Federation was founded at the instance of the English Association on the occasion of the Olympic Games organised in London in 1908; later, it was decided that at all Olympic Games the Federation should organise and control the swimming competitions.
