1.Établir, maintenir et fortifier des relations corporatives et individuelles entre les savants, travaillant dans le domaine humanités, par une correspondance régulière, par l'échange de commnicsations et par des congrès scientifiques périodiques;
2. Inaugurer, encourager ou diriger progrès des sciences archéologiques, historiques, philospphiques, morales, politiques et sociales et exigeraient et mériteraient au plus haut degré un effort collectif
HB 1929: (1) To establish, maintain and strengthen corporate and personal relations between
men of learning who are working in the humanities by means of regular correspondence,
interchange and communication and periodical scientific congresses; (2) to inaugurate,
encourage and direct such research work and publications as would appear to further
the progress of archaic logy, history, philosophy, the moral, political and social sciences
and which necessitate or deserve a high degree of co-operation.

General facts
Sur une invitation de l'Académie française des inscriptions et belles lettres (mars 1919), une conférence préparatoire eut lieu à Paris en mai 1919. L'Union fut constituée par unse seconde conférence, réunie à Paris en octobre 1919.
HB 1923: La troisième séance annuelle du Comité eut lieu en mai 1922, à Bruxelles.

(March 1919), a preliminary conference was held at Paris in 1919. The Union was
constituted at a second conference in Paris in 1919. All the other annual meetings
have been held at Brussels.
HB 1936: Sur l'invitation de l'Académie française des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres (mars 1919), une conférence préparatoire eut lieu à Paris en mai 1919. L'Union fut constituée par une seconde conférence réunie à Paris en octobre 1919. La plupart des réunions annuelles ont eu lieu à Bruxelles, celle de 1935 à Copenhague. La prochaine se tiendra à Bruxelles du 11 au 14 mai 1936.

The majority of the annua] meetings have been held at Brussels, but the meeting of 1935 was held at Copenhagen. The last took place at Brussels from May 24th to 27th, 1937.
