1° Télégraphie: Réunir, coordonner et publier les renseignements de toute nature relatifs à la télégraphie internationale. Procéder à toutes les études et exécuter tous les travaux dans l'intérêt de la télégraphie internationale. 2° Radiotélégraphie : Même programme HB 1929: To collect, arrange and publish information of every kind concerning international telegraphy and radiotelegraphy, to undertake all investigations connected therewith and to carry out all work relating to international telegraphy and radiotelegraphy.

Les recettes proviennent des contributions des Etats et de la vente des publications. Budgets : Section télégraphique : 1921, francs 1.011.761,05, dont, francs : 225,651,05 comme contributions des Etats ; 1922, francs 703.611, 80, dont francs : 210.072,45 des Etats. Section radiotélégraphie : 1921, francs : 789.024,25 dont francs 228.194,25 comme contributions des Etats ; 1922, francs 493.679,45 dont francs 189.019,45 des Etats. HB 1929: The income of the Bureau is derived from contributions from the member countries and / from the sale of publications. In 1927, the expenditure amounted to 456,982 francs for the telegraph service, and 403,020 francs for the radio telegraph service. The budgets for 1928 were: for the telegraphic service, 311,829 francs; and for the radiotelegraph service, 559,146 francs.

General facts

Le Bureau a été créé par la Conférence télégraphique internationale de Vienne (1868). Il commença à fonctionner en 1869 sous la dénomination de « Bureau international des Administrations télégraphiques » qui fut changée en celle de « Bureau international de l'Union télégraphique » à la Conférence de Lisbonne (1908). En 1906, la Convention radiotélégraphique de Berlin (3 novembre) l'a investi, en ce qui concerne la radiotélégraphie, des mêmes attributions que pour la télégraphie. Service télégraphique régi par la Convention de Saint-Pétersbourg du 22 juillet 1875 et par le Règlement de service y annexé (revision de Lisbonne 1908). Le service radiotélégraphique régi par la Convention de Londres du 5 juillet 1912 et le Règlement de service y annexé ; en ce qui concerne ce service, la Section radiotélégraphique du Bureau commença à fonctionner le 1er juillet 1908. L'article 14 de la Convention de Saint-Pétersbourg et l'article LXXXI du Règlement de service (revisé à Lisbonne en 1908) place le B. I. U. T. sous la haute autorité de l'Administration supérieure du Gouvernement suisse. HB 1929: The Bureau began its work in 1869 under the name of the "International Bureau of Telegraphic Administrations", which was subsequently changed to its present title. In 1906, the Berlin Radiotelegraphic Convention entrusted to the Bureau the same duties in regard to radiotelegraphy as it already discharged in the field of telegraphy. The telegraph service is governed by the St. Petersburg Convention of July 22nd, 1875, and the service regulations annexed thereto (Revision of Paris, 1925). From January 1st, 1929, the radiotelegraph service will be governed by the Washington Convention of November 25th, 1927, and the general and additional regulations annexed thereto. The radiotelegraph section of the Bureau began its work on July 1st, 1908.

Activities

HB 1929: Publication of notifications, circulars, list of telegraph offices, cables and radiotelegraph stations, list of call signals, telegraphic and radiotélégraphie maps, telegraph, telephone and radiotelegraph statistics; preparatory work for the conferences. It is customary for the Bureau to provide the Secretariat of the Conferences and to publish their documents.
